Therapy Services

“Compassion is knowing your darkness well enough to sit in the dark with others – it is a relationship of equals, not a relationship between the helper and the helped.”     ~ Pema Chodron

I am often asked what kind of a therapist are you as in what kind of “theoretical approach” do you use and although I adhere to an eclectic approach in my therapy practice, and I use a variety of therapeutic modalities including humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and existential psychology. But, in all honesty, it all depends and there are many factors that are at play when it comes to each and every client. My over all approach is to simply meet you where you are and to allow the energy in the room to carry us where we need to go.
My practice is influenced by an eclectic approach and I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including humanistic, psychodynamic, CBT and existential psychology.
My clients describe me as an active therapist who is caring, supportive, empathetic, validating, and one who gently and steadily pushes for growth and change. My style is warm and interactive and feel each client needs to have an active role in the outcome of their own life and encourage you by fostering the development of safety and trust in our therapeutic relationship, so that together we can explore and process what may be inaccessible or overwhelming to do alone.

Who I help

Individual Therapy
Therapy is a time and place where we can slow down and take a closer look at the obstacles and difficulties we face in our lives. I strive to create an environment of safety, non-judgment and compassion in order to make room for uncomfortable or overwhelming emotions. I work holistically to help clients understand the sources of their suffering and integrate all aspects of their lives into a harmonious and balanced well-being.
During the therapeutic process, you'll discover things about you and your life that you didn't know before, experience your feelings beginning to change, and discover new possibilities and solutions.

Couples Counseling
“Thankfully, relationships aren’t like baseball where it’s three strikes and you’re out. The universe keeps pitching us new opportunities to redo, repair and reinvent ourselves with another person.” ~ Stan Tatkin
Many of my clients seek therapy to help address relationship difficulties with a spouse or partner. They find that working through their challenges in a safe and therapeutic environment helps them discover new possibilities moving forward. A positive and enriching relationship is possible for any couple, but it requires commitment and work. Space Between Counseling offers the chance to have meaningful conversations with your loved one, identify relational patterns that maintain being "stuck", while developing practical skills to live relationships well and engage in new relational responses that can promote a greater sense of closeness.
These practical skills include:
    • Learning to communicate and listen better
    • Deepening the level of intimacy and connection within the relationship
    • Gaining insight to the repetitive negative emotions and corresponding hurtful reactions that you engage in together
    • Learning how your histories impact your relationship and to be proactive in promoting relational health
    • Better resolution of frequent misunderstandings in your relationships
    • Reducing conflict, learn triggers, and develop strategies for navigating arguments
    • Finding support for the relationship during life’s transitions into marriage, parenting, marriage after children, separation, or reconciliation
